Special Performance Refractory Castable Acid-resistant Refractory Castable

Acid-resistant and refractory castables are made of water glass or cement as a bonding agent, mixed with siliceous and aluminum silicate materials. Its characteristic is that it still has good performance under the action of medium and low temperature and acid medium. This type of refractory castable is applied to equipment such as the protective layer of the ball top of the blast furnace hot blast stove, the steel chimney lining, and other equipment, and obtains a better use effect.

Performance and Application of Acid-resistant Castable

Acid-resistant castable is an acid-resistant material combined with water glass. The combination of water glass can reduce the amount of Na2O and improve acid resistance.

The acid resistance of this type of castable is affected by both physical and chemical effects. When the concentration of the acid solution is small, it will penetrate along the fine cracks of the product. The connection between aggregate and powder is broken, and the strength is reduced. On the contrary, the acid solution has a high viscosity and is difficult to penetrate, and the chemical action is strengthened. That is, the concentrated acid solution has an acidification effect on the unreacted water glass, and precipitates silicic acid gel to promote the strong growth of the castable.

Acid-resistant castables can generally resist acid corrosion at 800-1200°C. However, acid-resistant castables are not resistant to corrosion by alkali, hot phosphoric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and fatty acids. The acid resistance is related to the aggregate and powder used. Sometimes the raw materials of different substrates are selected according to different situations and different parts of use.

Acid-resistant castables have better strength and stability when immersed in acid. Generally, as the immersion time increases, the compressive strength increases.

Acid-resistant castables are alternate anti-corrosion, so the anti-corrosion performance is greatly improved. Because the acid-resistant castable has high anti-corrosion performance, it can not only meet the anti-corrosion requirements in acidic corrosive environments. It can also meet the fatigue requirements of alternating performance and can survive in extremely harsh environments for a long time. There is also the shrinkage, hardness, toughness, wear resistance, and temperature resistance of the acid-resistant castable itself. It also lays a solid foundation for anti-corrosion in extremely harsh acidic environments.

Acid and refractory castables are mainly used as linings for anti-corrosion flues and chimneys, acid storage tanks, pickling tanks, and nitric acid concentration towers. Acid recovery furnace lining and other vessel linings corroded by acidic high-temperature gas, etc.

 Construction of Acid-resistant Refractory Castable

The construction temperature of acid-proof and refractory castables should be above 15℃ and try not to construct in the rainy season. Add the materials to the mixer during construction and mix them evenly. Aggregate first, powder material, then binder. The mixed material must be used up within 30 minutes. In particular, it should be noted that during the construction process, powder and some binders cannot be added. If the cement is found to be hardened, discard it. Learn more about the Acid-resistant Refractory Castable, https://www.hy-refractory.com/products/unshaped_refractory/acid-resistant-castable.html
